I took your advice and worked on my cover letter which briefly addressed some of the gaps in my employment career and also what I have been doing these past 4 months. I also made the change to my Summary and took out the 30 years statement.  Since then I have received quite a few calls, some from recruiters and some from employers. But the one I am very actively pursuing is a company called [company]. I was chosen over so many of the other candidates is because my cover letter addressed my working for a day care for the last four months. That has given me an edge since so much of what [the company] does has to do with compliance for children’s programs and I have had some exposure.

If you and I had not had our meeting, I would never have mentioned in my cover letter what I had been doing these last four months and would have probably missed out on this opportunity. Also, after reading your book, I have used more discretion when selecting which positions I apply to. That has resulted in more calls for interviews.

Your help has been invaluable.

YEP... I did get an offer today which I accepted. I start tomorrow. Again, thanks for all your help and great advice. I will send you an email from time to time to keep you up to date. Please keep me posted also on what you are up to. I really enjoy your sense of humor.

I am definitely 100% wiser and am confident that this training will significantly reduce my search time.  I read the cover letter sample I sent to you initially to my wife and these were her words...

"I would have never hire you because your letter sounded very intimidating and I would have wondered if you are so good why are you applying to my position instead of continuing to work on your own."
