I'm lost. I need career counseling and advice
You're wondering if you want to stay in the same function or industry, have a variety of things in your background and don't know how to put them together or which direction to go in, and are pretty sure you keep going in circles, you need a consultation.
During the consultation I'll be able to pinpoint if it's your job, your company, or you and give you a diagnosis; give you insight into yourself, what you're doing, and why you're having trouble; and give you a strategy and a plan that includes what kind of jobs you need to look at and how to find them.
All consultations have a money-back guarantee.

For any of the following that you choose, please email me your resume as an attachment to judi@findtheperfectjob.com, provide some info about what problems you're having with your search, and please put the corresponding choice in the subject line.
- Free critique: I'll do a free critique that's a general overview of what's good and what's not. That's generally about 2 - 4 paragraphs. If you would like me to look at it after you've made changes, and are likely to want to continue in that vein, you're better off with the next option.
- Interactive writing: I teach, edit, and guide you, giving you the benefit of the half million resumes I've seen in my career. When we've finished, you'll never have to hire another resume writer in your career, ever. Your resume will be in a top-notch, finished state that tells exactly who you are, what you did, how well you did it, and how you can benefit a company.
This is a great option for people who want a superlative resume that tells their story, but can't afford to pay to have someone else do it - or would rather learn themselves.
This is also how I work with resumes with my students in Perfect Job University. You can expect anywhere from 5 to 11 drafts. The length of time it takes depends on how long it takes for you to get your work back to me. I usually turn yours around in 24 - 48 hours. - Have someone do it for you:
- Hire me - I start at $800 because I put about 15 hours into it. That's extensive compared to others. While they spend 1 hour with you on the phone or give you a questionnaire that takes you a few hours to fill out, with me you can expect about 3 levels of numerous custom questions, and significant work on your part as well.
More than one person has initially thought this process to be pointless.....until they've been halfway through it and then they've raved about what they've learned about themselves and the benefits they've received for the their job search - especially the exceptional interview preparation.
Your resume will sell you much better than just a list of accomplishments which are often missing other critical parts of the bullet
- Hire Don Goodman at I looked and looked and he's the only one I'm comfortable referring people to. You can email him at DGoodman@GottheJob.com. Please tell him I sent you.

- 1-hour consultation: We'll look at both and I'll confirm your resume and cover letter need help. I'll show you how to fix them. And between my 22 years of working with hiring companies, candidates, and seeing the same patterns, and because I'm very intuitive about people, I'll also be able to tell you if you're getting in your own way and to what degree, why, and how to fix that.

- Class - 4 Ways to Jump Start your Job Search: 4 modules, each 1.5 hours in length, that begin with provide in-depth, step-by-step information on why conventional wisdom - and thus the way most people conduct their search - is hindering, rather than helping you,. Then you'll learn 4 avenues for sourcing openings, how to use them, and how to customize them for your specific situation.
- Class - Cover Letters (usually in conjunction with one of the resume options): No one writes effective cover letters. That's right. I said no one. Not the book you read, not the career coach you used that was on TV, not the column you read in a career newsletter, not the advertising model wth PS and PSS is worth the paper you put it on.
This is a three-module class still in development, based on the interactive work in Perfect Job University . There is so much learning in this class that I'll need to figure out how to do that effectively. At that point, like PJU where I only take 4 students, there will be have to be two different levels of tuition - one more interactive than the other.
You learn how to write 3 different types of letters
- Ad responses and why the way you're doing it is a waste of time and effort. After a few letters with a few edits each, you'll be able to write a custom cover letter that talks about the company, not you, in about 5 minutes
- Cold companies - how to get the attention of a company not actively hiring because the way most people do it - it doesn't work.
- Search firms receive a completely differnt type of letter than the other two, and one that is nothing close to what most people send
You have three choices, all of which require I speak with you to fully diagnose your problem. Part of it, perhaps all of it, is your lack of interviewing skills. But you may also be creating additional barriers and unconscious messages based on the your thought pattern and how that's manifesting - and you're likely not even aware of it.
Mock interviews don't really help because the real interview will be different from the mock interview, except for an overlap of some questions.
What will help you through any and all interviews is learning the psychology of the interview and the interviewer - how an interviewer thinks and what they're looking to learn from - and about - you.
What makes for a successful interview is when you are equipped with both theory and understanding and practice in a few typical questions, as well as ones that your specific background and presentation are going to elicit.
You also need:
- to make sure you learn what this job in this company is about right now, and
- exactly what they're looking for
- how to sell to that convincingly
- how to spot any red flags
- how to probe further and get away with asking tough questions and not coming off confrontationally
